Here at Willow Tree Psychology and Wellbeing, we offer Autism assessments, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments, or combined Autism/ADHD assessments.
Autism Assessment (ages 17 years – adulthood):
At Willow Tree Psychology & Wellbeing our Autism assessments are conducted by our neuro-affirming psychologists who have experience in understanding internalised and masked autism profiles. Our neurodiversity-affirming autism assessments fundamentally respect and acknowledge the diversity of neurological experiences and aim to provide a supportive and understanding environment throughout the assessment process. We understand how impactful an Autism Assessment can be for individuals on the path of self-discovery and look forward to supporting you through this process.
What to expect:
Our assessments are conducted on-site at Willow Tree Psychology and Wellbeing or via Telehealth, so you can be in the comfort of your home while going through the assessment process.
Initial forms and questionnaires will be sent out prior to your initial appointment, providing helpful information to the assessing psychologist to assist with the clinical interview.
We use the MIGDAS-2, the current most neuroaffirming autism diagnostic tool available, to explore autistic traits in childhood and adulthood. This typically takes 2-3 hours. You are welcome to bring a support person to this appointment.
After your letter or report is completed, a 50-minute feedback session will be scheduled to discuss the assessment outcome and provide individualised recommendations.
Disclaimer Regarding NDIS Eligibility for Autism Assessment:
Please note that the assessment and diagnosis of Autism conducted here may not automatically qualify an individual for access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS eligibility criteria are comprehensive and require consideration of various factors beyond diagnosis alone.
The assessment provided aims to offer a thorough understanding of the individual's strengths, challenges, and support needs related to autism. It can assist in accessing appropriate interventions, educational accommodations, and support services tailored to the individual’s requirements.
For NDIS eligibility, additional documentation and assessments may be necessary, including functional assessments of daily living and evidence of substantial and permanent disability. We recommend consulting with NDIS representatives or disability service providers for specific guidance on eligibility criteria and application processes.
ADHD assessment (ages 17 years – adulthood):
At our practice, we provide neurodiversity-affirming psychological assessments for ADHD. Psychological assessments focus on comprehensive assessments using a combination of clinical interviews, standardised questionnaires and observations to gather insights into ADHD symptoms and their impact on various aspects of your life. Gaining this understanding can support identifying therapeutic recommendations for evidence-based psychological strategies.
Our neurodiversity-affirming psychologists value the individual, emphasising strengths while acknowledging challenges. You can expect a holistic, empathetic approach to assessment, with our aim to ensure you feel seen, heard and respected every step of the way. This assessment approach is especially beneficial for clients seeking a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, where the goal is not just diagnosing but truly understanding and embracing your brain wiring.
If you require medication or a medical assessment for ADHD, we encourage you to consult a qualified psychiatrist or paediatrician. Unlike psychiatrists, psychologists do not prescribe medication or conduct medical evaluations, such as physical examinations or tests, to rule out other medical conditions that may contribute to ADHD-like symptoms.
We recommend you consult your psychiatrist or paediatrician to see if they can use our report prior to assessment, as these specialists often need to conduct their own assessments before prescribing medication.

After your letter or report is completed, a 50-minute feedback session will be scheduled to discuss the assessment outcome and provide individualised recommendations.
