Referrals and Fees

There are a number of ways to access Psychology / Therapy sessions, please see the information below on referral pathways and fees. Please note, we are not a bulk-billing practice.

Session Fees 

Our team at Willow Tree Psychology and Wellbeing consists of Clinical Psychologists, Registered Psychologists/Clinical Psychology Registrars, Provisional Psychologists, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, and Art Therapists. Self-funded Referrals

You do not require a referral to make an appointment to see our psychologists and clinicians. You are able to self-fund and self-refer. Self-funded referrals are not restricted to the number of sessions that can be accessed per year. The full fee is to be paid in full at the end of the session either by Bank Card, Visa or Mastercard.

Mental Health Care Plan Referrals - Medicare Rebates

With a Mental Health Care Plan, you are entitled to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per year and up to 10 group sessions per year.

The full fee is to be paid in full at the end of the session by Bank Card, VISA, or Mastercard. Your Medicare rebate will be processed the same day on the HiCaps terminal and deposited instantaneously back onto a bank card. Please note, that Medicare only allows rebates to be credited back to a bank/debit card – we are unable to process the rebate to a credit card. Alternatively, the Medicare rebates can be processed online, and the rebate will be transferred to your nominated bank account that you have linked with Medicare. In most instances, the rebate appears in your bank account within 24 hours.  

If you do not have your bank details listed with Medicare, it will be important to register your bank details so your rebate can be processed. If Medicare does not have your bank details, it can result in significant delays in obtaining your rebate. 

To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be required to make an appointment with your treating general practitioner (GP), Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician, and request a mental health care plan to see a psychologist / mental health social worker. 

Please note: Mental Health Care Plans can not be used for Art Therapy. 

Private Health Rebates

We have a HICAPS terminal at our practice and can process rebates provided by Private Health Providers for Psychology services. Private Health rebates will differ depending on your individual policy. It is recommended that you check with your Private Health Provider to discuss what rebates you may be eligible for. If you meet eligibility for a private health rebate, you will only need to pay the Gap fee after the appointment. Alternatively, if you pay for your session in full, you will be provided with a paid invoice, that you can submit to your Private Health Provider in order to claim your rebate.

Please note, that private health rebates for Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are currently limited. It is recommended you check with your Private Health provider to discuss rebates for services provided by an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

Private Health Rebates can not be used for Art Therapy. 

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

We can provide psychological / therapy services provided by Clinical Psychologists, Registered Psychologists, Provisional Psychologists, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, and Art Therapists to NDIS participants who are Self-Managed or Plan-Managed.  We are unable to provide psychological services to participants with funds managed by NDIA. Please contact Willow Tree Psychology and Wellbeing for further information including NDIS fees.

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) / Open Arms

We are able to provide psychological services to DVA and Open Arms participants. Please contact Willow Tree Psychology and Wellbeing for further information.  

Cancellation Fees

Please note, 48 hours notice is required for any cancellations/reschedule of appoinments. Cancellation fees will apply. You will be unable to claim Medicare or Private Health for late cancellations / Late reschedule of appointments.
