Interest Areas
I enjoy working alongside children, adolescents, and adults to better understand difficult thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and life experiences. While I welcome clients across the lifespan, I have a particular interest in supporting young people, including boys and young men, as they navigate the ups and downs of an increasingly complex world.
I pride myself on creating a therapy space where people feel comfortable speaking openly without fear of judgement. Building trust, safety, and a strong sense of connection is an important foundation for the work we do together. I also value celebrating the wins along the way and paying attention to the small details that matter to the people I work with. People of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, body sizes, and neurotypes are supported and respected within the therapy space, including LGBTQIA+ individuals.
I recognise that each person brings their own story, values, capacities, and perspectives, and I try to build on existing strengths. I bring warmth, humour, and genuine curiosity into sessions, and work alongside clients to find approaches that fit their individual needs. While always grounded in evidence-based practice, for some, therapy may involve colouring in, creative play-based activities, mapping out ideas visually, or simply sitting together in conversation. I also love sport, and where it fits, incorporate movement into sessions as another way to engage in therapy and make conversations feel more natural.
I predominantly draw upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), alongside principles from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I have experience in addressing a range of concerns, including (but not limited to):
· Anxiety and phobias (including fear of vomit)
· Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
· Emotion regulation difficulties
· Stress and burnout
· Depression and low mood
· Mental health concerns specific to boys and men
· Body image, eating concerns, and eating disorders (e.g., anorexia, binge eating disorder, bulimia, and OSFED)
· Social and relationship difficulties
· Experiences relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community
It is important to note that I do not treat Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
